Coming up!

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 30, 2008, 6:40 PM
Just thought I should jot down a few ideas about what I could be doing in the next few weeks.

I have four weeks left in the quarter. That means in Abstract painting, I have to finish my very large format 5'x7' painting, my series of 6 20"x20" paintings as well as two other abstract paintings that I think I'll add into the final project, each 20"x14" that will hopefully tie into the series of six. The series of six is going to be a study of color that we don't normally notice. I've always been interested in the nuances in life and nature around us that we either don't notice or take for granted. The intersection of street and street, wood and plantlife, dirt and stone.. things like that, using horizons as inspirations.

In my Life painting class, I'm sure I'll keep on pumping out tons of little studies like those in my gallery right now, and then of course I have two larger paintings coming from model sessions. Once is the back of a female (preliminary drawing is currently up in the gallery though I have yet to complete it) and another smaller piece of a male model that should be completed in the next four weeks.

For Anatomy, I'll be completing a triptych of 10"x10" shadow boxes with pills lining the inside of them and covered by a piece of paper with a silhouette cut out, so that you can see through the silhouette and into the field of pills... Trying to speak about pain pill addiction. All painted white, oh so subtle.

Besides that, I hope to complete a submission by May 17th for the Painter's group contest "Bring Out The Trash" seen here ->[link] I'm not quite sure what to do about that.

Also, I'd like to explore the idea of using alternative objects to put paint on the canvas... Objects like: Metal nails, chicken breasts, straws, marbles, apple cores, corn on the cob... whatever, and trying to see if you can get the feeling of that object in the paint... Could turn out to be a wash, but it may be something interesting!

I'd like to, at one point, start the series of paintings that I've been wanting to do for a while. I need Models to stand, dressed normally, only with black blindfolds over their eyes. I want to do a series of these paintings in life size, illustrating everyone's blindness to the things that are dangerous going on around them. We're all so blind to the poverty in America, blind to torturing techniques, blind to things going on in Africa, Darfur... We need to know what's going on and if we don't want to know, then you should at least recognize that you're ignorant about the subjects or that maybe someone is putting the blindfolds on us. --- Maybe if you'd like to be a model, you can take a picture for me and Note it to me... Maybe I can get started if any of you would like to help out... Just a thought!

In June, I'll be traveling to Colorado for Luke's (Zach's little bro) graduation for two weeks, meeting up with the family there... and then the next two weeks will be in New York for my little sister's graduation and to meet with the family there. That will be the last time I'm in NY for years, I suspect...

If any of you recall, last time I was writing, I was swollen and angry and in pain. Pain is gone! Hallelujah to steroid shots... BOO to high appetite. I haven't been able to eat enough in the last few days. I'm going to kill someone if I can't fit in my dress for the graduation parties... Better get my butt on a treadmill for the next 4 weeks, eh?

Any other updates? Oh, my cat had 4 kittens about two weeks ago, so my apartment is filled with 'eep eep eeep" sounds from those little balls of fur. Luckily, they sleep about 80% of the time, so we don't hear too much. They're adorable and all spoken for already, so sorry!

I didn't have anything in his shit folder, I was just really upset with what he was doing. Plus, I figured if I commented, he wouldn't have anything to say to me...

One ill turn deserves another. The only question is, what will be found on that ill turn taken?
